META Group ranks tenth out of 46 among the best performing companies in terms of Innovation Management in Small and Medium Enterprises in Horizon 2020. Altogether, the European Commission has spent €639,900,909 in research funding on Innovation Management in Small and Medium Enterprises, and of this, META has managed €2.86 million.
In total, META Group has received €5.22 million from Horizon 2020, split across areas like Excellent Science (FET2RIN), Societal Challenges (eHealthHub and Power4BIO), and access to risk finance (ESIL). However, it's clear where our specialisation lies, as more than 54.9% of the total sum awarded has been addressed to Innovation in Small and Medium Enterprises category. Social Challenge Innovation Platform (SCHIP) falls within this category, an initiative based on the META Innovation Platform. It acts as a meeting point between societal problems to be solved - presented as challenges - and innovative solutions submitted by entrepreneurs.
SCHIP launched challenges on the platform addressed to entrepreneurs, and aimed to create economic and social impact through finding innovative solutions to particular societal issues. Solutions were drawn from all over Europe. Up until now SCHIP has collected 83 challenges from 48 European cities of 18 different countries, and has received about 500 solutions, of which 78% are submitted by SMEs, start-ups and individual entrepreneurs, 19% by non-governmental organizations and 15 by universities.
The statistics were estimated by VINNOVA, the Swedish government agency for innovative systems, which evaluates and monitors the results obtained and the long-term impact within the framework program Horizon 2020. The complete statistics can be viewed here.
