On 22 November, the revamped and rebranded Booster was officially launched during an online event hosted by the European Commission. The event marked an important moment not just for Booster but also for META Group, as our team proudly leads this transformative initiative’s operational and communications efforts.

A game changer for EU innovation

The event highlighted Booster’s key role in advancing the EU’s innovation landscape and helping research projects deliver real-world impact. It provided a platform for future or existing beneficiaries to learn from high-profile speakers, including from the European Commission and from META Group’s own CEO, Alessia Melasecche Germini.

To kick off the event, Joanna Drake, Deputy Director General at DG Research and Innovation, and Nikolaos Mitrakis, Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission, discussed Booster’s relevance within the EU’s broader research and innovation strategy. Drake underlined Booster’s position as a vital link in Europe’s knowledge valorisation ecosystem, addressing challenges highlighted in the recent Draghi report and supporting the EU’s global competitiveness.

META Group’s leadership and vision

As the leading partner of Booster, META Group has been instrumental in shaping the initiative’s vision and outreach. During the event, Alessia Melasecche Germini unpacked  Booster’s services, highlighting that

  • It is a free, expert-led and personalised support system for researchers and innovators
  • It is focused on dissemination, exploitation, and go-to-market strategies
  • It is a unique mentorship framework, designed to unlock each project’s full potential

Alessia also participated in a Q&A session, addressing questions submitted live during the event. She added in an interview that the:

“Booster mentorship goes beyond solution-centric type of advice, instead offering a framework for dissemination, exploitation, and go-to-market support.”

Our communications team also had the pleasure of interviewing Alessia in a broader discussion about META Group’s role within Booster – including how the European Commission’s request came about. Alessia also took the time to reflect on some of the challenges that the research community continues to face.
